Firies Student Council

Student Council 2025/2026

A student council is a representative body elected by students to promote their interests, enhance school life and act as a liaison between pupils and school management. The main objective is to provide a "voice" for students in school affairs and promote cooperation between students and staff.

The Student Council at Firies NS for 2025/2026 is made up of 10 pupils from 3rd to 6th class. Students were invited to apply at the beginning of the school year, with the final team selected by school staff. The council meets monthly with Múinteoir Bríd to discuss and lead school initiatives.

Before Christmas, the council focused on organising the school raffle, including creating a promotional video for Facebook. In the new year, they played an active role in developing and presenting information on our Bí Cineálta and Child Safeguarding policies to their peers.

Currently, council members are preparing presentations about personal hobbies or skills they have developed, highlighting the benefits, challenges and the people who encouraged them along the way. This initiative aims to motivate and inspire all students in our school to try new activities, overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
