Some of our musically talented teachers wrote a song in Irish, An Gaeilge Abú,
to accompany the music to the brush dance. John Foley, Cosmo Video
Productions, did a superb job capturing the children brush dancing as well as
recording the song. We entered the video in an Irish film competition run by
Conradh na Gaeilge and funded by Kerry County Council. This competition
was for all Primary and Post Primary schools in Ireland. There was a prize of
€1000 for the overall winner at each county. I am delighted to announce that
Firies N.S. won this very prestigious prize. Congratulations to all our children
and staff and a special thanks to John Foley.
